DYHA Biggs Scholarship Information

Dear Graduating DHS Senior,

The Biggs Award is given to a Darien High School Senior who has played within the Darien Youth Hockey or CT Ice Cat organizations in recognition of their contributions to the program and the sport of ice hockey. This grant, the Biggs Award, was established by the Biggs family in memory of Todd Copeland Biggs, a former DYHA player. The $2,000.00 scholarship is now funded through the Friends of DYHA. Award winners have shown selfless dedication to their teams and have represented themselves, their families and the organization in a positive and productive manner. We are contacting you to make you aware of this grant and to explain how you may be eligible for the award.

To become a candidate you will need to complete this google form which includes composing a brief essay (one page in length) describing how your experience in DYHA positively impacted you, what “life lessons” you may have learned and/or what you enjoyed most about DYHA. In short, what has DYHA and the game of hockey meant to you and taught you as you progressed through the league. Any player, Travel or House, DYHA or Ice Cats, with one season or more of DYHA or Ice Cats play is eligible to apply.

All entries must be received by March 22nd and will be reviewed by the DYHA Board of Directors with the winner being named at the DHS Awards Ceremony later this spring.

If you have any questions regarding the Biggs Award guidelines, please contact me at info@dyha.com. Good luck to you!

Sincerely,

Darien Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors
